Update: Journalists can now tweet, email or text live reports from courts

Chapter 4 update: In January 2014, the Hong Kong Judiciary announced it would begin permitting live text-based communications from court. The move allows journalists to tweet, email or text live reports using a court-provided WiFi network. Mobile phones, tablet computers and similar devices used for communication must be switched to “flight mode” and disconnected from 3G and 4G telecommunications networks, which the Judiciary says interfere with its recording system. The action came three years after British courts began permitting live text-based communications. Full text of the guidance can be found here.
